Congratulations to Meg Kapil being awarded a 24-month SSHRC Canada Doctoral Fellowship and a Doctoral Dissemination Award from CCPA.

Meg’s dissertation is entitled: Mental Health, Stress Regulation and Self-Regulated Learning (SRL): Important Pieces in the Student Success Puzzle. This research recognizes little is known about the processes that promote the synergy between SRL practices, positive well-being, stress regulation, and academic success. To date, research on academic success has overemphasized regulation of behaviour and cognition and underemphasized regulation of personal processes that shape that same behaviour and cognition. Similarly, research on personal processes underestimates the influence of goals and outcomes on well-being, especially in academic contexts. With Dr. Hadwin, Meg is also developing a community engaged project entitled the Stress Stories Project. This collaboration with School District 61 brings information and resources to a group of grade 5 students about managing school stress.
